FTC Disclosure Guide
Sacred Journey requires every affiliate to disclose their commission relationship clearly and prominently on every promotion. This guide gives you templated language that meets FTC §255 (the FTC Endorsement Guides) for every channel we've seen affiliates use. Adapt the wording — keep the substance.
The three-rule summary
Clear
Use plain, unambiguous language. "I get a small commission" beats "affiliated content."
Conspicuous
Place the disclosure where viewers see it before engaging — not buried in a description, not behind a "Read more" fold.
Consistent
Disclose on every promotion, every channel, every time. Not just the first one.
Per-channel templates
Replace [CODE] with your assigned coupon code.
- Instagram caption
- “#ad — I partner with @sacredjourney and earn a small commission when you use my code [CODE]. Sharing because I genuinely use these every morning.”
- Instagram Story
- “Tag the post with the "Paid partnership" label or add an #ad sticker before any product mention. Don't rely on text overlay alone — they can be missed.”
- YouTube description
- “This video contains affiliate links. If you buy through them I receive a commission, at no extra cost to you. I only recommend products I personally use.”
- YouTube Shorts / TikTok
- “Add #ad early in the on-screen text and verbally state "this is sponsored / affiliate content" within the first 5 seconds. The visual #ad alone is not enough for short-form.”
- Newsletter / email
- “Place "This is an affiliate promotion — I earn a small commission on referred sales" at the top of the section, before any product description.”
- Blog post
- “Disclose at the top of the post (above the fold), not just at the end: "This post contains affiliate links to Sacred Journey. If you purchase through them I receive a commission."”
- Twitter / X
- “Include #ad or #affiliate at the start of the tweet, before the link. Truncated previews can hide a disclosure placed at the end.”
Banned compliance language
These phrases are off-limits because they make claims Sacred Journey isn't legally permitted to make. Using them puts both you and us at regulatory risk.
- ✕FDA-approved (no functional mushroom is FDA-approved as a treatment)
- ✕Cures, treats, prevents, or diagnoses any disease
- ✕Guaranteed results / 100% effective
- ✕Doctor-recommended (unless you have evidence of a specific doctor recommendation)
- ✕Before-and-after weight-loss claims
- ✕Anti-anxiety, anti-depressant, or other clinical-treatment positioning
Brand-keyword PPC reminder
You may not bid on “Sacred Journey,” “Sacred Studios,” or close variants on any paid-search platform (Google Ads, Bing Ads, etc.). Violation results in immediate termination and clawback of unpaid commissions.
